Forest View is a Central East Region Dual Diagnosis Resource and short-term Residential Treatment Home for individuals with a dual diagnosis (developmental disability and mental health disorder) and/or challenging behaviour. Forest View is a part of the Community Networks of Specialized Care, a partnership of community-based organizations that work together to provide professional services, consultations, teaching, education, training and research-related activities for adults with developmental disabilities and mental health issues and/or challenging behaviour. Individuals with dual diagnosis access the Mobile Resource Team and/or specialized beds through the local Case Resolution Process. Forest View is equipped with a video conferencing system that can be accessed for education purposes and/or medical and other appointments. This home is a 24-hour treatment home for up to four individuals who have a dual diagnosis and/or behavioural difficulties and one community bed placement. There is a multidisciplinary team on site that provides assessment and treatment based on the Bio-Psycho-Social Model and utilizes Person Directed Planning. The treatment is up to one year, with the goal of assisting the individual to move back into their home community and to have a better quality of life.
